Description

The 6 Nights 7 Days Teaching of Buddha with Meditation and Silence Retreat at Bodhidham Yoga and Spiritual Retreat Ashram offers a rare and immersive encounter with the core teachings of the Buddha. Over seven days, participants are guided through the foundational pillars of Buddhist wisdom — the Four Noble Truths, the Noble Eightfold Path, the Three Marks of Existence, and the practice of loving-kindness — while developing a genuine meditation practice rooted in these teachings.

Central to this retreat is the practice of noble silence. As days progress, participants gradually enter and deepen into complete silence, creating the inner conditions for the teachings to move from intellectual understanding into direct experience. Silence is not a restriction — it is a powerful tool that allows the mind to settle, emotions to process naturally, and insight to arise of its own accord.

The daily rhythm balances Dharma talks, sitting meditation, walking meditation, and mindful movement. Guidance is provided by experienced teachers who draw from authentic Buddhist lineages. Personal interviews with the teacher are available to support each participant’s individual journey.

This retreat is held in Nepal, the very land where Siddhartha Gautama was born and where Buddhist practice has been lived continuously for centuries. The environment of Bodhidham — surrounded by the Himalayas and the sacred energy of this land — provides a uniquely supportive container for this kind of inner work.

What You Will Learn and Experience

  • The Four Noble Truths – Understand the Buddha’s diagnosis of suffering, its origin, its cessation, and the path that leads to liberation. This is the foundation upon which all Buddhist practice rests.
  • The Noble Eightfold Path – Study and begin to embody the eight dimensions of the path: Right View, Right Intention, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness, and Right Concentration.
  • The Three Marks of Existence – Contemplate the truths of impermanence (Anicca), non-self (Anatta), and suffering (Dukkha) through both teaching and direct meditation experience.
  • Vipassana (Insight Meditation) – Learn and practice the core technique of Buddhist meditation: observing the arising and passing of phenomena with clear, equanimous awareness.
  • Anapanasati (Mindfulness of Breathing) – Develop concentration and presence using the breath as anchor, as taught in the original Pali suttas.
  • Metta Bhavana (Loving-Kindness) – Systematically cultivate boundless love and compassion toward oneself and all beings.
  • Walking Meditation – Bring mindfulness into movement through traditional slow walking meditation practice in the natural surroundings of the ashram.
  • Noble Silence – Experience the transformative power of extended silence as a direct support for deepening meditation and insight.
  • By the end of this retreat, you will carry a living understanding of the Buddha’s teachings and a personal meditation practice rooted in genuine experience.
