This policy explains how Bodhidham Yoga Ashram ("we", "us", "our"), based at Lakeside, Pokhara, Nepal, handles your personal data when you visit our website at bodhidham.com, contact us, book a program, or stay with us.

1. What we collect

We collect information in three buckets:

Information you provide directly

• Name, email address, phone number, country of residence
• Health and dietary information you share with us when applying to a program (so we can adapt practice and meals safely)
• Booking details and payment confirmations
• Any messages you send us via the website form, WhatsApp, email, or social channels

Information collected automatically

• Basic usage data through Google Analytics and Google Search Console (pages viewed, country, device, anonymised IP)
• Cookies and similar technologies used by our hosting provider for session continuity

Information from third parties

• Reviews and ratings published on Google, TripAdvisor and BookYogaRetreats (only the parts you make public there)
• Payment confirmations from banks and money-transfer services

2. Why we use your data

• To process your booking and prepare a safe, suitable program for you
• To communicate with you about your stay, dates, travel logistics and post-program follow-up
• To improve the website using anonymised analytics
• To comply with Nepali law, including record-keeping obligations for foreign visitors
• To send you optional updates only if you have explicitly opted in (we do not run a marketing list by default)

3. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal data. We share only what is necessary, with:

• Our resident teachers, kitchen staff and accommodation hosts (only what they need to host you safely)
• Payment processors that handle transactions on our behalf (subject to their own privacy policies)
• Nepali authorities where required by law (eg, foreign-tourist registration)
• Service providers running our website infrastructure, email and analytics

4. How long we keep it

• Booking records: up to 7 years after the program (Nepal tax and accounting requirements)
• Health and dietary information: deleted within 12 months of your stay unless you book again
• Marketing-related contact details: kept until you ask us to remove them
• Anonymised analytics: retained according to Google's default policies

5. Your rights

Wherever you are, you have the right to:

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Ask us to correct anything inaccurate
• Ask us to delete your data, subject to legal record-keeping requirements
• Withdraw consent to optional communications at any time, with no effect on your booking
• If you are in the EU, EEA or UK, complain to your local data protection authority

6. Cookies

The site uses a small number of cookies: one for session continuity, one to remember whether you accepted the cookie banner, and Google Analytics cookies for anonymised usage data. You can disable cookies in your browser settings; the site will still work.

7. Children

Our programs are intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18 without parental consent.

8. International transfers

Some of our service providers (email, analytics, payment processing) are based outside Nepal. Where data is transferred internationally we rely on the providers' own safeguards and standard contractual clauses where applicable.

9. Changes to this policy

We review this policy at least once a year. The "Last updated" date above tells you when it last changed. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage for 30 days.
