Retreat Overview
The 8 day Chakra Workshop and Healing Retreat at Bodhidham is a structured study of the seven chakras, the energy centres described in the traditional yogic and tantric system. Held in Ghachowk, near Pokhara, the retreat is built so that one full day is given to each chakra, which allows for genuine depth rather than a quick overview.
Each day combines teaching on a chakra with practice. This includes chakra-focused yoga sequences, pranayama, mantra chanting, sound work, colour visualisation, and meditation, so you study each centre and also work with it directly. The chakra system is presented here as a traditional framework for understanding the body, mind, and emotions, and a lens for self-reflection, rather than as a medical model.
The retreat suits complete beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Enrolment is kept small so each person gets real individual attention, and you leave with a workbook and a set of practices you can continue at home.
What you study and practise
- Muladhara, the root chakra. Grounding practices and the theme of stability and security.
- Svadhisthana, the sacral chakra. Practices around creativity, emotion, and flow.
- Manipura, the solar plexus chakra. Breath work and practices on personal will and self-esteem.
- Anahata, the heart chakra. Heart-centred yoga and loving-kindness meditation.
- Vishuddha, the throat chakra. Mantra, chanting, and sound work, with the theme of clear expression.
- Ajna, the third eye chakra. Trataka (candle gazing), visualisation, and deeper meditation.
- Sahasrara, the crown chakra. Practices for stillness and expanded awareness.
- Sound and visualisation work. How mantra, singing bowls, and colour visualisation are used within the chakra system.
