Retreat Overview
The 3 day Mountain Home Stay Yoga Retreat is Bodhidham's village homestay experience, and it is different from the ashram retreats. Instead of staying at the ashram, you travel by jeep to a mountain village near Pokhara and stay in a local family's home, sharing their food and daily life.
The retreat pairs this with a simple practice: sunrise yoga, evening guided meditation, walks and short hikes in the hills, and unhurried time with your hosts. Meals are home-cooked, local, and vegetarian, and evenings are spent informally with the family, often with singing, dancing, and conversation.
It is a short, gentle trip, three days and two nights, and suits all levels, including beginners. It is best for anyone who wants a genuine, friendly taste of rural Nepali life and culture alongside their yoga, rather than a structured ashram programme.
What the retreat includes:
- A village homestay. Two nights in a local family's home in a mountain village, sharing their daily life.
- Sunrise yoga. Morning yoga sessions, including one with mountain views, suitable for all levels.
- Guided meditation. Calm evening meditation.
- Village life and culture. Walks through the village, meeting local people, and learning about the way of life.
- Hiking. A short hike in the surrounding hills and forest.
- Evenings with your hosts. Informal evenings of singing, dancing, storytelling, and conversation.
What is a yoga homestay at Bodhidham?
A yoga homestay is a gentle blend of three things: a daily yoga and meditation practice, the comfort and warmth of staying in a real Nepali family home, and the joy of taking part in everyday village life.
You wake with the village, practise yoga as the sun rises over the hills, and then step into the simple pleasures of life of village. You help in the kitchen and learn to cook local dishes, walk the village lanes and forest trails, sit with your hosts over tea, and watch how a Himalayan farming family lives, eats, and celebrates. The yoga grounds you, and the family and village open a window into the real Nepal.
Your three days, in the Home Stay Yoga Retreat
The pace is relaxed and the days are unhurried. Here is the shape of a typical stay.
Mornings begin early and gently. You start with a sunrise yoga session suitable for every level, often practised outside with the mountains in view, followed by a short guided meditation to settle the mind. Then comes a warm, home-cooked breakfast at the family table.
Daytime belongs to the village and the family. You will take guided walks through Ghachowk and along the forest and farm trails, with a short and easy hike into the surrounding hills. You will meet local people, see how the farms work, and have plenty of slow, open time simply to be present in the quiet of the hills. Back at the house, you can join the family in the kitchen, help with small daily tasks, and learn how village life really runs.
Evenings are warm and social. After a guided meditation and dinner with your hosts, the evening often turns into the part guests remember most: an easy time with the family, which can include singing, a little dancing, storytelling, and unhurried conversation. If your visit lines up with a local festival, you may be invited to take part, which is a special thing to share.

September to November and February to May are the clearest. Monsoon (June to August) is quieter and often better priced. We run year-round.
